Interesting and educational tour of the city centre, well worth the time! I particularly liked the history of common English phrases and the architectural detail. John is a very knowledgeable host and the locals all seem to know and love him. Wrap up warm if you go as there are a lot of stops so it gets cold in the shade quickly (not a complaint - all the stops came with more interesting facts - I just hadn't planned on so much stationary time and should have brought my coat haha!)

I cannot recommend this tour enough. John’s vast array of knowledge on Canterbury and many other things makes you think that he is truly a walking encyclopaedia. The origins of many English phrases combined with the history of Canterbury left my mind blown several times throughout the tour. If you’re in Canterbury, do not miss John’s tour!
I booked this experience for my Mum and a friend. Both found the tour excellent, John was an absolute wealth of knowledge about Canterbury and in fact my mum's friend; who had grown up in Canterbury, learned things she had previously been unaware of. Highly recommended.

This is a truly wonderful tour, showing you an abundance of hidden gems in the oldest part of the city, with lots of good humour and facts thrown in along the way! John is a fantastic host and is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to the history, social history and language history of this special place. I would highly recommend joining a tour if you are visiting the city 🙂

We had a really fun morning with John on his tour. It's clear John has been doing this for a long time: his knowledge is deep and he is a great storyteller. The tour was full of fascinating insights into Canterbury's long history and the history of the English language.
John was absolutely amazing, very interesting and knowledgeable...went 'off script' ..funny man. Definitely recommend.

If you don't do much else in Canterbury then you must go on this tour. From start to finish it was very entertaining. Great group of people including a couple of children and all were made to feel welcome and encouraged to join in. The time went so quick as we were all having a great evening. Very knowledgeable about the area with some great wit. Would happily go round all night with John listening to his tales.... Worth every penny, can't recommend enough.
